About This Experience
Escape into the heart of Romania's most celebrated wine country on a day that balances adventure, culture, and gastronomy. Dealu Mare — translating literally to "Big Hill" — is a sun-drenched plateau rising above Prahova Valley, home to the country's finest Fetească Neagră, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot varieties.
Your journey begins aboard a premium electric bike. Over three hours, glide through vine-draped lanes, past ancient stone cellars and family estates, with your expert guide narrating the living history of Romanian viticulture. No prior cycling experience is needed — the e-assist makes even the steepest slopes a breeze.
Midday brings you to Crama de Piatră, an architecturally striking winery hewn from local limestone. After a cellar tour exploring oak-barrel aging halls and temperature-controlled caves, you'll sit down with the resident oenologist for a hands-on wine blending workshop. You'll taste component wines, study their structure, and compose your own blend — which you bottle and label as a personal souvenir.
As the sun drops over the hills, the evening culminates in a traditional Proțap feast. Proțap is an ancient Romanian open-fire cooking method — whole cuts of lamb suspended on wooden stakes over glowing embers. Surrounded by the vineyard at dusk, accompanied by a curated flight of Crama de Piatră wines and live folk music, it's a dinner that lingers long in memory.

Day Itinerary

Meet your guide at the meeting point. Coffee and welcome briefing. E-bikes fitted and safety check.

Set off through the lower Dealu Mare foothills. The trail winds past family-owned vineyard plots, old stone chapels, and pastoral landscapes.

Rest stop at the valley ridge — sweeping views across Prahova. Photo opportunity and a taste of local must (unfermented grape juice).

Arrive at the winery. Guided cellar tour through barrel rooms and aging caves. Introduction to Dealu Mare's flagship varietals.

2.5-hour hands-on session with the estate's oenologist. Taste components, adjust ratios, compose your personal blend, and bottle it.
